From the standby screen [on your Xenon]

- Select Dialing Button

- Dial 3845#*500# (you will then be in the engineering menu)

- Select "Modem Setting"

- Select "Network Mode"

- [Select "Network Mode"]  ***

- Select "2G Only"

Voila! You have now forced your Xenon into using on 2G only sevice.

Now here's my question.

I live in an area with 3g service, but i NEVER use data on my phone.

Would text / calls be the same on 2g?

I never use the data features on my xenon. Turning off 3G will about double the battery life and the 2G network handles calls and texts just fine in most areas.

Yea texting and calls would not be affected by switching to EDGE (2G). However, sending picture messages would take a bit longer but not by too much.

Can you simply turn it back on if you turn it off? What all is involved?

Yeah you can turn it back on, I think mine actually went back to 3G when I turned my phone off and back on.

Just performed this on both the wife's and my own Xenons. It does revert to 3G on Power off/on.  I kinda hoped it would stick (wife likes to keep her phone turned off), for now at least.

Yeah @mazzygos, theres not too much out their in Dubai yet.

BTdubbs, why the heck are you leaving Flordia for Dubai.

Sounds like a complete buzz kill, unless Dubai looks more like a city now compared to earlier years =x
