From the standby screen [on your Xenon]

- Select Dialing Button

- Dial 3845#*500# (you will then be in the engineering menu)

- Select "Modem Setting"

- Select "Network Mode"

- [Select "Network Mode"]  ***

- Select "2G Only"

Voila! You have now forced your Xenon into using on 2G only sevice.

Could I still send MMS messages with this? What is the difference between a 3g phone and a 2g phone? I really want to block that damn data and still be able to send and receive MMS...

yes you can still send messages, its like 3g is just kinda like an upgrade of 2g, like if you lived in a city or something most likely you would have to use 3g but that;s not always the case.

I tried 3845#*500# and saw "USSD Service requesting...." then immediately get "unspecified error".. anyone know why I might get this? Im using Bell Canada's GR501. Im also getting hard-restart issues whenI try to copy text, update contacts and some other 'edit' type functions...

Try
3845#*501#

Note that with the correct code you should not need to press the Call/Send key.  The menu should just magically appear once you hit the last #.
