when you recieve a text message all it says is 1 new message. is there a way that you can have it say 1 new message from ____???

Not as of yet. That would be a really great feature, but there's no way to change it without hacking it.

acually there is you have to go to settings/more/applications/voice command then you click call alert and it will have three options ring only, ring after name, or name repeat. ring only will just do a normal ring, ring after name will say the name then ring (does this for calls and messages), and repeat name...well i think you can guess what that does.

the thing is, when i put my phone on silent, the voice doesnt become silent...so even if my phone is on silent it will still say whoever is calling or texting me

what if you get a message from more than one person? it will say, "4 new messages from: bob, jim, joe, harry" ?

im not sure, i dont really use it that much because as lotamaster said it still does it when u put it on silent, and seeing im in school like evryday its just not worth it.

It will say that you have a message from each person in order.  Not combined.
