I know there is a way to have ringtones treated as music, but is there a way to have music treated as ringtones?
I've reduced my music file to be 120k and 27 secs long but it still won't allow me to use it as a ringtone...
Anyone have an idea on these?

Thanks.

did you store it via to your memory card? if not pls. do so.
and if you did, make sure you put it in the right folder (my_sounds) <---that folder.

after doing these, go to:
menu, my stuff, more, memory cards, scroll down to or look for the folder that says 'my_sounds', click on your music to PLAY it, and then at the top right corner (the notepad icon thing next to the battery), click USE AS and then choose RINGTONE (or ringtone ID if you want that ringtone only to a specified person).

if that doesn't work lemme borrow your ringtone for a sec and see if i can tweak a little..

If your Xenon is Rogers branded, I have found custom ringtones can only be set after downloading them from the internet, or by transferring them via bluetooth. At that time, you will get the option to set it as a ringtone.

My two cents that are already on the site.

This really amazes me. Not that Rogers would be restrictive, because that's what they're in business for.

There has to be an app that will let you access the file system somehow. I know I can see a folder in the Ringtone list I create, but non of the files I've created (and I've created dozens) seem to show up there. I feel I'm very close, but haven't hit the magic combination yet. I have

- adjusted sample rate ( to 16Khz)
- Mono filetype
- < 30 seconds
- Saved to phone both on memory card and phone memory
- Subsequently moved file from mem card to phone (when it wasn't already on phone).
- Created MP3s of my own (voice/noise/whatever) and applied above criteria.

I've found that those "Free Ringotone" sites don't work worth a crap.

I have a full studio of audio software & hardware at my disposal and find it frustrating that I can't make my own ringtone  of my own original songs.

Is there a DRM issue at work here too?

How can the Rogers.pol file be accessed/modified?

You can try to play all you like, and best of luck finding a solution. It may help us all.

That being said, I've had my Rogers Xenon for almost a year and I'd like to think I've done and found almost everything that the phone has to offer at this point. Rogers' Xenon's cannot load ANYTHING off of the memory card the way an AT&T Xenon can, I know, I had one of those too for a bit.
You can play with your audio combination's all you want, have someone bluetooth the song to you. In the menu the pops up after the transfer is complete, you will be able to set it up. Again, that is the ONLY place on a Rogers Xenon to set a custom ringtone.

Just attribute my post to my enthusiasm with my new phone. I am never surprised by the ways Rogers try to restrict what we do with our phones.

Since you've had your phone with Rogers for some time, were you able to pload your own ring tones and then set different ring tones for different contacts?

You are able to use custom sounds as ringtones. They need to fit within the correct limits still (less then 300 K, less then 30 seconds). After you have that you can either transfer the ringtone to your phone via bluetooth from a computer or another phone. After the item has saved you will get a pop-up window. There is an option to set as a ringtone below that, set as caller-id ringtone, then like, play and do nothing. If you have a data plan, you could use an uploader program. When saving the tone from the net, the same box will show up.
I do it both ways. I have a data plan so I can download them, the wife does not, so I bluetooth her any tones she would want.

Good luck and have fun!

Actually, that doesn't seem to be true, I've got a custom ringtone that is a full minute.
Thing is, I still haven't figured out why some of them work and others don't.

It's a custom mix track, I haven't noticed any problem with the quality.
