Here is a site for taking all of your sound files, cutting them down to size, and coverts them to .mp3 format.

http://makeownringtone.com/

Just upload, select the section of sound you want, and there you go.

Worship may now commence

Weird, do you mean that you can play it but you can't use it as a ringtone?

Maybe you could try going through a different path,
try going into My Stuff, then more, then memory card and select your file.

Or try settings, sound, ring tone, then select the file,
those are the only two ways I know of.

I also tried this and to no luck can only play the ring tones but can't use them. tried them in wav and mp3 format thinking this could be the problem but it wasn't. This starting to drive me crazy. So whats the deal here with this phone? Roll Eyes

I am having the same problem right now. My file size is 368kb which I'm pretty sure is small enough so this is kinda irritating

I believe the max size for a ringtone is 300KB.

The max limit is 300 KB, but if u can change the bit rate of the file, u can make it fit =)

For those who do not mind using software, Audacity is a great program! I use it a lot!!! I love being able to make my own ringtones.

Grin Thank you very much kalexie.

Smiley This did work Great,I also use Audacity 1.3 Beta(Unicode) and really like that program to. For those using that program go into ( THIS IS FOR AUDACITY 1.2.6 ) : EDIT > PREFERENCE > FILE FORMATS > MP3 EXPORT SET UP > CHANGE THE BIT RATE LOWER. NOW EXPORT YOUR MP3 RINGTONE AND PLACE INTO PHONE THEN USE IT AS - RINGTONE. You now should be able to use your ringtone no problem now.
Wink OR YOU CAN USE A " MAKE A RINGTONE SITE " JUST MAKE SURE YOU CHANGE THE BIT RATE BEFORE YOU DOWN LOAD RINGTONE (ALSO DON'T FORGET THE MAX LIMIT OF THE RINGTONE IS 300 KB TOO.): http://makeownringtone.com/
Thank You. Grin

Put it on your memory card if you have one.  The file must be in .mp3 format,
and UNDER 300kb to be on the safe side.

Also
Did you say "Software Suite"?!

Saved to a couple of places?  Do you mean you have direct access to your phone?!

If you do have a software suite that allows direct access to the phone, please,
share it with us, I BEG of you!

We've been looking for such software for months!

Yes, I have a software suite that came with my phone.  I don't know if it will allow the access you are looking for, but I will gladly share.  The disc is 97 mb in size...how will I send it?

As for the ring tune....I will try to save it to my memory card and see if that works.

So I've done some research recently, and the Lg Xenon suffers from the same issue as the LG Shine and Vu, there is a security certificate (Rogers.pol, ATT.pol depending on your service provider) which restricts files from having access on the phone, the service providers say that it's for "protection from malicious programs" but it's more along the lines of you having no other option but to buy tones, apps, and games through them. There are methods to work around the .pol file, but they currently only work on the Shine and Vu from what I've seen.
