a JAR file is like a zip file but a JAD is like an [AUTORUN] file that tells java how and where to install the JAR. You will need the JAR more than the JAD.

If you want to mod the app then youll have to unzip the JAR (with Winzip, Winrar or 7zip) and go from there. You can edit the JAD with notepad or notepad++

To add the parameters to the Jad file, just open it in notepad or something of the sort. The only luck that I have had in removing the d-pad has been by editing the manifest.if when opening the jar file in winrar. I had tried the Jad option to no avail.

Remember that JAD parameter changes don't necessarily get reapplied if you reinstall an app over the top.

In other words, you should delete the app, then reinstall it fresh from a modified JAD.  Otherwise the changes may not take.
