.jad and .jar loading via Bluetooth?

Is there a special procedure to follow to load J2ME apps via Bluetooth? I have transferred several different files over to the phone, but always received an error when I then tried to run them from the phone. Am I missing something very basic, or do I need to get a microSD card and run the apps off of that?

If you are on a Rogers branded phone, you have to download them directly to the phone via it's internet connection, with or without a microSD.
