Figured some of you might want to know how to dive a little deeper into the phone:
3845#*500#

I needed this so I could disable 3G, lots of other (cool?) stuff too?

Neat menu, but I'm not tech savy enough to know anything about any of the options on it.  There's about 10+ on there.

Two questions:

Why did you turn off 3g?
How did you turn it off? Which menu did you use?

Thanks

I don't get 3G reception where I live, however there is some weak signal I get when driving to nearby towns and I was having some issues with it switching networks so I wanted it disabled for now (untill my city has good reception).

Modem Setting -> Network Mode -> Network Mode -> 2G

My phone will have that same problem.  I live in a smaller town of about 8,000 but 30 minutes to the north AND south it gets 3G (b/c they're much larger cities).

Do you suggest this this for my phone when I travel?

Awesome find...
When you live in fringe areas, turning off 3G will also help to prolong your battery life. The phone uses quite a lot of power when trying to pull in 3G signal or when switching between networks. If you use your phone for texting and calling, this is a very good idea.

Now if you disable 3g, will you be able to enable it again.  I get edge really good in my area. So this is good to know.

Yes, it allows you too turn 3G on and off.

Noob question: Is there a cost for setting it to 3G? I really dont understand phones.

My phone is having an issue where it will lose signal sometimes and not regain it without powering off and back on. I was wondering if you all thought that turning my phone to 2G only would help?

I can get a gps location, using the Get Position function after I changed the Technology Setting to Stand Alone, but still can not get it to allow any freeware GPS tracking software to get a location.
