To ACCESS the engineering menu...since you didn't share this:
From the standby screen
- Select Dialing Button
- Dial "3845#*500#" (you will then be in the engineering menu)
- Then scroll down to SIM Test - Hit Virtual SIM - Hit Yes Viola

Can't make calls with Virtual SIM enabled, as the phone's virtual SIM just lets it continue the boot sequence, but it can't authenticate to the network.
Some other functions don't seem to work with Virtual SIM either - like Bluetooth...

Bluetooth doesn't work, and neither can you connect the phone to the computer to use it as mass storage device (or any other mode, for that matter).

In virtual sim mode, my xenon does communicate with my bluetooth GPS receiver. I'm pretty sure the usb/mass storage also works, but I'm not 100% certain on that.

I tried the mass storage a couple of days ago. Unless there was a severe glitch in my phone, it didn't work. When I plugged in the cable, nothing happened.

After double checking, I have found that the usb connection is open, but blocked, when in sim test mode. Bluetooth connection to my GPS keychain receiver does work in sim test mode.

idk if anyone is actually gonna use this but i know i do because for reasons unknown to myself i havent gone out and gotten an sd adapter yet and dont feel like buying songs individually but need some type of music when i work
have you ever noticed that you cant listen to ringtones in ur music player? well heres how.
1. go into engineering menu [3845#*500# on dial menu for those who cant read =P]
2. go to last option "FM auto test"
3. you'll notice you cant touch anything or select anything. this is where it gets you
4. you need to slide open ur phone and press j [4]
5. ull see two choices, 0k and 300k. obviosly this means 0 kilobytes and 300 kilobytes.
6. press i [2]
bingo u can now play any song size in ur music player. hope this helps somone. i mean im not a phone wiz or anything but im not afraid to look around either. i used to have the pantech duo then the blackjack. both windows mobile and i loved being able to customize EVERYTHING. if anyone needs help jackin this phone im more than willing. i check the forums everyday desperately =P
btw i love this site. and everyones so friendly. you wont find that everywhere. good job guys =]

Great tip on using the number keys to select menu options in the Engineering Menu! I think the default is >300 kb files are categorized as music by default though... Here's the behavior on my phone: Normally, the Music Player only "recognizes" MP3s >300 kb But if you set the Music Setting to 0 kb, then the Music Player "recognizes" all MP3s, including the built-in ringtones, so you can play ringtones in the Music Player. See my post here if you'd like to join the effort to get further into the phone.

each carrier has a different access menu key, so some of the codes may not work.
