Hey Gang,

So at the risk of messing up my phone, I have been playing with the engineering menu.
Here are some of my conclusions.

Red Menu Items are Unknown

1. - Version Info
- SW Version Info - (Various Software Information)
-- SW Version
-- Media Version
-- Module Version
-- HW Version

- Factory Version ( More info )

2. - Factory Reset
I'm not going in here, at risk of loosing my info.
But, It's pretty Self Explanatory

3. - Device Test (hardware testing)
- Auto All Test (self explanatory)
- LCD
-- LCD Hand Test ( use the Touchpad to go through various Colors - Multiple taps )
-- LCD Auto Test ( Same test as above, but Automated )
-- LCD Color Test ( A nice little Hex Color Chart )
-- 16 Gray Color ( Various shades of gray )
-- LCD ITEM Approval Test ( Freezes your phone for a few seconds )

- LED
-- Backlight On ( Turns off the Backlight, touch screen for it to come back (phew!) )
-- BL Level Test ( Gives you a button to cycle through Backlight Level )
-- Keypad LED On ( Turns off Keypad LED, touch screen for it to come back )
-- BL Policy - Always On ( keeps the BL on for the remainder of the Engineering Menu (possibly restart too) )
-- Camera Flash - Always On (while highlighted, Camera Flash is always on)
-- Camera Flash - Auto On ( Gives a double flash, and disables the always on )
-- Camera Flash - Off ( Turns the flash off, For how long, I dont know, I'd select auto)

- Camera
-- External Camera Test ( Lets you test the Camera, with a 1/2 screen viewport )
-- Internal Camera Test ( Same Test as before, but for a non-existent camera )

- Font
-- Shows a list of Fonts I dont want to mess with. EXPLORE AT OWN RISK..... then report back if you do  Grin

- Sound
-- Playback Test ( Test plays the Factory Default factory ringtone )
-- Vibrator ( Vibrates continuously  Wink )
-- Loopback Test ( Shows  "packet loopback" and seems to do nothing )
-- SND & VIB Test ( Vibrates and Plays Default Factory ringtone
-- Ext. AMP Test ( Explore at own Risk )
--- 1. HeadAndSPK : OFF
--- 2. Head : OFF
--- 3. SPK : OFF
--- 4. Receiver : Off

- RTC Test ( Lets you Change the Time, Time Format, And Daylight Savings )

- Key Press Test ( Displays a mini keyboard where you can test the Keys )

- Touch Screen Test ( Gives you a numbered Box grid, that lights up when touched  Hit the End Call Key to see results and then again to Exit)

- Touch Screen Draw ( Gives a trail and direction coordinates , Press End Call to Exit )

-Motion Sensor Test ( shows the Shows the Accelerometer Data)
-- Range (changes the range in Hz )
-- API ( changes the 4g setting )
-- Bandwidth ( unknown )

- Secure Clock Test (unexplored)
-- API Test
-- DB Status

- Factory ELT Test (unexplored)
-- Automatic Mode
-- Manual Mode

4. - Port Setting Here is where we may be able to get the usb cable to work

-- Diag Setting
--- UART Set For Diag
--- USB Set for Diag
--- BT Set for Diag
--- NULL Port

-- Data Setting
--- USB Set for Data
--- BT Set for Data
--- UART Set for Data
--- NULL PORT

-- USB Set for JAVA ( Says "USB Set for JAVA" Then Reboots phone)
If plugged into the data cable upon reboot, the phone will stick at the "charging" screen, hit End Call to Boot.

-- Mass Storage (just sits highlighted, dont know what it does)
-- Mass Storage Remove (same as above )

5. - Modem Setting
- There's alot going on in here. all of which could mess up your phone. Explore with caution

6. - Sim Test
-- Virtual Sim ( says Virtual Sim on? ) I exited the menu with the End Call key to avoid messin it up.

7. IMS Setting ( No idea what IMS is, but it's a provider specific url / setting )

8. IM ClientID ( Looks like you could change the default IM protocol )

9. MTP Test
- MTP API Test ( Unexplored )

10. GPS Test (Alot more to be explored)
- gpsApp main menu

12.DRM Test ( No Support Message diplayed)

13. Callibration Data ( A bunch of stuff I have No idea about )

14. FM Auto Test
( Locks you into a menu, Must hit end call to Exit)

Notes:
1. While in the Engineering Menu, your phone will not lock out (i.e. inactivity lock)
2. You can Receive, Read, and reply to Text messages without getting knocked out of the Engineering menu
3. The Top Right Menu Button on the Main screen, Brings up the Dialpad... possibly a 2nd level code entry.

To ACCESS the engineering menu...since you didn't share this:

From the standby screen

- Select Dialing Button

- Dial "3845#*500#" (you will then be in the engineering menu)

If you haven't set a security code, try 0000 or 1111.

Well the virtual sim thing is pretty simple to use  Tongue all you do is turn off your phone and take out your sim card (under your battery). Put back in your battery and turn on your phone. Touch the Emergency Call button and type in go to the engineering menu and turn vitual sim on Tongue it basically is like using the phone when you have a sim card in without service Cheesy

That's awesome. It'll be great to exploit that, so we would be able to make calls for free. Just an idea, the carriers probably have very strict regulations for that. But you gotta admit, it would be pretty cool.
