This sounds very interesting.
If we could get a signature code and get an app running on the xenon, we can get closer to breaking into the filesystem.

The app could show everything that's running, then maybe we could find a hole and exploit it. Unless my knowledge of the internals of phones is as good as my knowledge of knitting.

If anyone knows how to speak/type Russian, or Korean I can't see this being an issue for us for another week.  Grin

I'm a newborn to cell phone coding, hacking, modding, etc...  On my 4-5th day of experimenting. I see a lot of people comparing the VU to the Xenon. Have we tried using the tools made for those models? EFS software? Also, i don't know if it will work on cell phones, but there is a software package out there called Backtrack now at v.4 download here--> http://www.remote-exploit.org/cgi-bin/fileget?version=bt4-prefinal-iso That has really powerful tools in it for pretty much exposing any and all security blocks. If you are Linux savvy and are familiar with code of multiple platforms this software package may help. I've used it to break into about every component on my PC just experimenting, i.e. When I built my new PC I forgot my admin pass on old hard drive so transferring over stuff was not happening, well to use the language of the current days... " There's an app for that "  Tongue

Here are a couple tools that could possibly be used from remote-exploit's site  http://trifinite.org/trifinite_stuff_bluebug.html

http://trifinite.org/trifinite_stuff_blooover.html  <-- This is a .Jar (runs on phones with MIDP 2.0 and JSR-82 (Bluetooth API)) Huh? Is that what the Xenon is?

If I just had you read that for no reason, I'm sorry. I'm a nooblet like I said, but I have time on my hands and I'm very interested in learning. If you are interested in using my time to help, please PM with links, advise, etc to get me learned up real quick like.

Ahhh Backtrack. Quite a wonderful distribution.
Now I have little ground for this as I have no USB cable for the Xenon, but I don't think that you would be able to use Backtrack to get anywhere near the phone, as it would probably freak, then reboot.

But it's worth a try.

BlueBug I believe might work, but it looks old, so it might not work with the current version that is on the Xenon.

And sadly the blooover doesn't work on the Xenon.

AT&T has to establish you as a developer, which from what I read, seemed to imply that you had to be accepted to MEdia Mall...

But I haven't actually gone through the process, so I'm curious to hear your results if you try.

Well apparently from what it says, you must have a business relationship with AT&T.

Setting the ports for Diag don't seem to make a difference for me, whether I use the LG software, enable Bootmode, or try to talk to it any other way.

I'd love to hear that I'm doing something wrong though.

USB for Java seems to put it in a Java test mode - the phone isn't recognized by the PC at all when it's in Java mode.
