Ok, it's been over a month and still nothing on drivers???
What exactly are we looking for drivers-wise?
Who actually makes the drivers for this phone...or for that matter, ALL LG phones?
Are we looking for a real driver or a HACK/MODDED one? Or is it FIRMWARE we are looking for altogether?
Let me know, so at least when I ask around, I know what to say I am looking for.
People I have talked to say that there SHOULD BE compatible drivers for accessing the internal phone files already out there. That no phone is that unique.
Let me know.

I'd like a USB driver that works with BitPim personally. Not being able to do anything to this phone is my only complaint with it.

I started the original topic on this subject...and started a NEW topic about it again...
I wish people would answer the questions and not just monitor the posting formats...

Bitpim is a program for exploring and managing cdma phones, the LG Xenon is a GSM phone, two completely different technologies. I know that some people have stumbled upon the tutorial which shows how to bypass security on the LG shine or Vu, however, those phones have CDMA counterparts which are near identical to their GSM models. Bitpim has no problem accessing those since it recognizes them. I have tried using bitpim and possibly trying to get it to recognize the Xenon as the VX10000 (Voyager) but no gusto. The Xenon is a very new phone, and I believe it is a completely different platform than older LG phones. Currently, this dilemma stumps me and I'm hoping to make some headway, I would absolutely love to be able to do more on this phone. Anyone got any ideas?

The disk that comes with the phone is just drivers. it in no way helps access the phone files unfortunately.
I got a copy of this disk and still no internal phone access...for those who are trying to find this disk, don't bother.
I wrote to LG about it and they wrote me back the following:(which I consider to be crap and it sounds like the email is farmed out from India to be completely honest):

Dear Customer,

We are delighted to hear from you as our Valued Customer.

I apologize for the inconvenience that this may be causing. Unfortunately, the phone files cannot be accessed. You can only download and or upload the files from the memory card to the PC and or vice versa.

At this moment, we do not have any available driver for the LG Xenon.

If you have other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us again either via email, or by calling our customer service division at 800-793-8896 at your convenience.

While it was a noble effort to ask, I highly doubt LG wants us playing with the internals of the phone (which would inevitably increase their support calls), so it's unlikely we'll get help there unless someone has an "insider" that can leak us stuff.

For those with phones that allow it (I assume GR500s from Rogers allow this, since they include the CD), the contact management and stuff should work, but the software doesn't help hacking.

The driver installs three virtual serial ports - one is the modem, one is an OBEX interface (which I find interesting) and the last is a Management interface (which I find VERY interesting).  But so far I have only successfully "talked" to the modem via AT commands.  The other two interfaces I haven't figured out yet.  The OBEX interface I believe is standardized.

Since I can't sleep yet again... time to play with it more.

Perhaps we are approaching the backwards?
Its not so much the drivers, as the USB setting. Be it Music Sync / Mass Storage / Data

I hope the key is in the Engineering menu, as there are some port setting. I have played around with it, but with no results other than getting it recognized in the Default Modes listed above.

If the phone (by default) is not letting us access the Filesystem, drivers mean squat.

If the phone (by default) is not letting us access the Filesystem, drivers mean squat.

Well, we have drivers now, but basically you're right.  If the phone isn't allowing access, nothing we do through the communication (USB or Bluetooth) will matter.

J2ME access appears to be out, at least for AT&T, as the default AT&T J2ME policy is to not allow anything non-AT&T signed.  http://developer.att.com/developer/index.jsp?page=toolsTechDetail&id=11300207

However, the same document says the Location API isn't allowed by AT&T-signed, yet AT&T Navigator and Yellow Pages can access it... Huh

OBEX seems the most obvious route to get to the phone's filesystem, but again, OBEX functions are disallowed unless they're signed by AT&T.

So unless there's some way to change or bypass the phone policy-checks, I don't know...  Hopefully the policy-checks aren't built into the firmware itself. If that's the case, the only way to change things would be to flash a new firmware on the phone.  I hope it's easier than that.  Maybe LG has some kind of OBEX diagnostic program that can be loaded and is signed by them?

Well now I need to correct myself.

OBEX does work over Bluetooth on my 32-bit XP machine with Widcomm Bluetooth stack.
OBEX over Bluetooth does not work on my 64-bit Vista machine with Bluesoleil Bluetooth stack.

I'm not sure if there's just a difference in the way the two implement the protocols (Bluesoleil File Transfer worked OK on my previous Samsung phone)...

EDIT: OBEX over Bluetooth does work on my 64-bit Vista machine with Bluesoleil Bluetooth stack.
Somethings about running LG PC Suite 2 (and it failing to connect) makes the PC "confused" afterward and OBEX doesn't work...  Maybe it leaves a connection open or something.  After a reboot (and not running LG PC Suite 2) things were OK.

Something worth noting:
The Primary Storage location (Settings|Bluetooth|Bluetooth Info|Primary Storage) determines what OBEX sees.  If it's set to Memory Card, then you'll see the memory card contents.  If it's set to Handset, then you'll see the phone memory.

There doesn't seem to be anything interesting in there.  The search continues...

I visited that link to the At&t developer tools. I'm trying to understand what I see there. It appears to me anyone can write an app and get it signed through that web site, you just have to summit your personal info. Then they send you the signature code to add to app?.
