Hi,
I was looking every where on google for a blog that was just for my new phone that I was given to me by a friend. Thank god that I found it! I am almost 21 and I am love making my electronics to be different from what I originally got it from. I hope this blog can achieve my goal. One of the goals is be able to connected my phone to my computer and be able to change the registry on my phone to be able to make .mp3 formated files over 300kb as a ringtone. I found the registry files off the internet to be able to do it and now I need help to transfer it to my phone. I am going to attach the files to this post so if you feel interested to look at it, please do. Its suppose to make the ringtone to be able to go up to 25mb (a little over doing it but better to be safe than sorry) Grin. I know anything is possible as long as you know how to do it and I hope someone knows how to do lol! I have a feeling this blog is going to make me learn a lot of things to make my LG Xenon GR500 look badass! Also, if anyone that is reading this has anything to fill me in about anything, please do and thanks in advance  Wink

Unfortunately that CAB looks like it's for Windows Mobile phones...

LG is quite confusing as they have many phones based on different hardware platforms.

The GR500/Xenon is a Sony Ericsson Mobile Platform (SEMC, sometimes noted as "LG3G") phone.  This makes it the most difficult to get access to.  In particular, this is a SEMC "A2 phone" and A2 phones are secured via a security certificate.  Ours seems to use CID54.  Only CID up to 53 have been cracked so far.

Thus, so far there is no way to write files to the filesystem (outside of Others and Other Files), so we can't make changes to the behavior of the phone.

The common tools that work on other platforms (BitPIM, Qualcomm EFS, etc) don't work.  Heck, even the LG utilities that are supposed to work don't work - at least not on my AT&T-branded Xenon.  I think AT&T has put in extra restrictions in their firmware.  At least the Rogers Xenon works with the LG PC Suite 2 software they provide.  AT&T-branded Xenons seem only to work for Data Service modem mode, and Bluetooth OBEX File Transfer.

So, since this is really a Sony-Ericsson phone, still waiting to find a utility that works for CID54.  Thinking of other ways but so far no success.  On one of the other LG phones that moves "unrecognized" files into Others or Other Files, they replaced Others and Other Files with files, but on the Xenon it just re-makes the Others or Other Files folder and puts the file in it.  Seems LG got wise to that one...
