New xenon user here. Well, its coming in the mail; i haven't got to toy with it yet. its replacing my Samsung solstice which had a short run due to me dividing it by zero, literally. Anyways, I know SOME things about cellphone hacking, and am getting into the firmware side of things a bit more. When i get my xenon i will be poking around the file
system and seeing what i can find; what is the progress on this so far. I know no one
has been able to successfully hack it yet, but i was wondering what techniques have been tried, theories, etc.

I have also noticed some users was wondering about the possibility of an android OS
and yes, I do believe it would be possible, however, it would have to be a custom
built android os -- that means building from nothing but the android kernel. The
kernel, in theory, could be optimized for the xenon. It would take trial and error
and a solid dev team is all. Of course, we should not focus on android yet, the primary
focus should be hacking the filesystem. Cant wait to get my phone so i can start poking around.

Read Tonglebreak's thread called "Accessing filesystem using Bluetooth and Obex" in the LG Xenon modification section.

Basically we know how to access the filesystem, we got a directory list of all the files inside. The only obstacle is modifying files, and writing files without having the phone move them to the "Unknown files" folder (called Others on this particular phone)

If you want any help add my IM mdogg.20@hotmail.com

Cheers

ahh yea i just found that post, thanks! I would guess it checksum's the files, so writing the file would need the checksum spoofed for it to work, or is it dumping ANY file - modified or not - into the 'unknown files'

I don't think it checksums - you can't even write the same file back if you accidentally delete it.
Hence, delete is a DANGEROUS thing.

Seems like it simply checks the file type (based on extension) of the incoming file, then reroutes it to the folder it "thinks" it goes into.  Anything that's not a recognized type goes into Others or Other Files.
