Hi,

I just signed on a two year family plan with AT&T and got two LG Xenons for the SO and me.

At this point, I have loaded my contacts, set up IM (although it seems to be very unstable), and use the medianet browser to read emails (gmail and exchange).  I also purchased a moto-rokr stereo bluetooth headset and uploaded music on an SD card to use the phone as an mp3 player.  I bought a USB cable off ebay, but it doesn't do anything but charge the battery at this time.

For the price (free) the xenon has worked great, but I'm probably missing some critical apps and tips that I hope to learn about here.

Would like to:

Replace the awful medianet browser
Have a real email program for gmail and exchange
Make the music player more functional

I'll be looking for these kinds of tips.  Please share if you have any.

BTW, downloaded the bettermanual.zip and plan to read through it.

Good, please provide feedback on the Better Manual on its thread. Smiley

You can get the USB drivers from the link in there, or in here.

Good choice on the stereo Bluetooth.  While the Xenon has the convenient feature of playing music even through non-A2DP (standard) headsets, the sound quality on A2DP (Bluetooth music) is much better.

While you can't replace the built-in browser entirely, you can install some good alternatives.

I posted some JAD files to download Opera Mini and Bolt in Landscape orientation, along with Google Maps.  They're in the Tips & Tricks section here.

Not sure on the email front.  I use Gmail, though the newest (v2.0.6) isn't signed as far as I know, so it prompts on send/receive.  I also posted a landscape Gmail in the Tips & Tricks section.

The only tip I can give you on the Music Player is that it does support embedded artwork, so if you have embedded album covers on your music files, they will show up.  I spent 2 days going through my entire library with Media Monkey to fix tags and embed artwork.  Media Monkey is a great tool.
