Drivers don't necesarilly enable hacking/modification.  They simply allow you to communicate with the phone, which is the first step.  In fact, the drivers themselves may require hacking if they are somehow limited.

Requirements are:
1. Communicate with the phone.  The USB drivers allow this.
2. Access the files on the phone's internal file system.
3. Modify or otherwise create compatible files for use on the phone.
4. Write the modified/created files to the phone's internal file system for the phone to use.

Unlike some of the other LG phones, BitPim does not currently support the Xenon, and none of the existing communication profiles for BitPim seem to be able to communicate with the Xenon.

Same goes for the Qualc*mm EFS Explorer and QPST.  I think part of the problem is that the EMP U330 chipset on the Xenon is quite different from the Qualc*mm platform used by other LG phones.

Heck, my AT&T Xenon won't even talk to the LG PC Suite software in Data Service mode.  That's probably why AT&T doesn't bundle the PC Suite software with the phone.

So we're quite a ways from hacking/modding.

Well... I wish I could tell the future, but I can't.

Right now, it's not hackable.  We can't write to the filesystem.  Until someone figures that out, no hacking.

No idea when someone will figure that out.  I'm doing the best I can, as are a few others.

I'd also really like to help out, but I have no expertise in that area. The most I can do is put ROMS on my Incite, but thats about it.

I really would like to help, I can do some programming C, C++, Java, PHP, HTML, some assembly. I am not an expert in any of these, I guess I would say intermediate.
The only thing that worries me is bricking my phone. I really cant afford for that to happen.
