I'm a Noob..and I have an unlocked LG-GR500 Xenon, I want to know if, and how, I can TURN 3G & EDGE (INTERNET) COMPLETELY OFF..since I don't pay for Internet on my device..

*I'm asking this since in the Reception Bars, at the top..a 3G or an E is always there..I don't know if it has been connected to the internet all along, please help!

One other thing..when viewing the Contacts..The names are (Last Name, Name) is there an option for showing only the name, and in alphabetical order? Many Thanks!!

Disable 3G:
1. Engineering Menu  - 'dial' 3845#*500# or 3845#*501# (menu should pop up when you hit the last # - you do not need to press Call/Send)
2. Select Modem Setting
3. Select Network Mode
4. Select Network Mode (again)
5. Select 2G Only

You can also force the frequency band if you want, but that's extreme and may lead to no coverage in some areas.
1. Engineering Menu  - 'dial' 3845#*500# or 3845#*501# (menu should pop up when you hit the last # - you do not need to press Call/Send)
2. Select Modem Setting
3. Select Band Freq
4. Select a setting

Disabling Internet:
You can try making a fake Internet profile as described here.
