I have had my phone turn off randomly almost 2 or so times a day lately. Usually been happening when I open the keyboard. Has anyone had this problem also?

I have found that it can be done really at any random time. One time I have had it happen most is when I send a message and it says sending and i close the slider it just turns off. Other than that its really at random times..

Do you have lots of applications open at once? The only way I have made the phone crash is to have both tabs on the browser on a fairly large page and have a few other apps open at the same time.

This has turned into a huge annoying issue for me.  Ill pull my phone out of my pocket or back pack and it will be off.  Doesnt matter what the battery life is, just randomly shuts off at its own will.  Ill have missed calls/texts.  It pisses me off.  ATT will be getting a phone call tomorrow.

What's the battery life like when you turn it back on?

I'd still get a replacement if possible, but I'm wondering if the phone is "waking up" randomly because the slide mechanism is being triggered.

I had this problem before I got a case for my phone - I'd have it in my pocket, and the movement of walking or whatever would trigger the slide mechanism (and therefore unlock the touchscreen) and when I'd pull it out of my pocket I'd have random numbers and stuff dialed.  Luckily I didn't pocket-dial anyone.

I am having the same issue with both phones I own. I think it might have to do with a little moisture from sweat/and opening or closing the phone to hard.

my phone turns off when i shut the slider. thats the only time it happens.

i think whats happening is that the phone isnt reacting well to the slider shutting "too fast" so now when i shut the slider i do it somewhat slowly and my phone doesnt shut off randomly anymore

It could be that all of the opening and closing has worn out the sliding mechanism. Like lotamaster said, try to do it slower, and gently. I've never had any issues, but that might be because I hate the sound of it smacking shut. I keep thinking I broke something when it makes that sound.

Also, I live in a very dry and arid place, basically in a forest on a mountain in the middle of a desert, so I wouldn't know if moisture could be affecting it.

Just be gentle and you should be fine.

One of the things that has helped me with this problem is placing a folded sheet of paper about the size of the battery right on top of it before you put the cover on.

It seems that the battery is very loosely attached to where certain motions cut it loose.

Haven't had a problem since this :]

My phone seems tight. It feels solid, but the hard case I put on it was pretty loose and scratched up my phone. Could it be that some of them are a tiny bit smaller?

Yesh. I have that problem all the time, I'm used to it. Usually it happens when you slide the Qwerty out in a fast motion or close it. Pretty annoying aye?
