Picture message resolution problem

I have been experiencing a strange problem with my LG Xenon GR500. I can receive and send pictures without any problem, but when receiving them, the resolution shrinks terribly. Pictures I receive through bluetooth keep in their size, but through messages, it always shrinks to around 160x100. Has anyone else experienced the same issue with their LG Xenon? Is there any possible way to fix this?

Picture messages (MMS) usually have a size limit (300 KB or 600 KB), but they should come in at reasonable resolution.

If you tap-and-hold on the image, then save it, does it save at larger resolution?
