Hey everyone, i have a bit of a problem.  a few months ago i went on my aunts family plan with AT&T.  I ended up with a Samsung flight 2 and i couldn't stand using it.  it is cheap and the software is terribly glitchy.  so i started researching some phones online and decided to buy the LG Xenon.  I bought it online, and unlocked.  when i got the phone i took the simcard out of my samsung and put it into my xenon and started using it.  i love this phone, however i noticed that it has an old 2009 software version.  so i tried updating it through the software update option on the phone, it checked the server and then it said briefly, "no new update available." I know for a fact their is a new update but i cant get it.  i have tried it twice now.

any Ideas on why i cant update my phone?  could it be that my account is registered to my samsung phone and my xenon wont update unless I register it to the account?  Any help would be great, thanks!

The Software Update function is notoriously unreliable... that said...

If the phone is not an AT&T-branded Xenon, and you're on AT&T network, it may not find the update, and...
If you have poor signal, it may not find the update server, or may refuse to try.

What firmware version do you have currently?

I will keep trying to update it, so far it still hasn't worked.  my phone IS an AT&T branded phone and my current software version is GR500-V10J-Jul-20-2009-ATT-US

after dealing with att over the last week it seems the update is no longer available.  tech support attempted to send the update to my phone 7 times and it failed every time with a 404 error, meaning the update cant be found.  I also talked with LG and they said i can send my phone in to them and they will update it but it will cost me $50 - $100.
Is there any possible way that i can update the phone myself via my PC?
or other options?
Thanks for the help

Unless you're having an issue, it probably isn't worth the effort to update it.

There really wasn't anything new added in the newer firmware as far as anyone is aware.

the main issue i am having is that every time i send a text i get a blank screen that says "messaging" and it basically freezes the phone. the only way out of this is to lock it and unlock it.  I had read that the newer firmware had fixed this issue, so that's what i was hoping for in the update.
