it has dedicated storage for the messages and the apps on the phone, so even if you did delete the stock apps you wouldnt have any more space for messages.

thats not intierly true if we get the software drivers we'll be able to edit the files on the phone (be able to delete regular apps) the messaging has nothing to do with the apps or games

but the issue isn't actually memory, its that the phone has a cap on the number of messages it will store. Even if you deleted everything else off the phone, it would still only let you save the same number of messages. Just have to wait for a firmware hack to change the cap.

Are you kidding me?? Did you have the LG VU prior to the Xenon? If you did, you would of seen that the Vu has a max of 100 messages, so 300 is plenty. This is a pointless topic, try deleting a message if its such a hassle, no reason to have 300 messages saved to begin with.

If you don't think 300 messages is a lot you must not text much.  Most active texter's do that in a day.  And it WOULD be great if the phone kept them all.  It's nice to keep convo's so you can go back and look at it--very handy.

Why the 300 cap is on the phone is beyond me.  Probably the biggest flaw in my opinion.  The text message convo's are really cool--but you can't store crap.  Why they went to the trouble of making it look nice in texts boxes, yet allow minimal storage is beyond me.

Yea, thats one of the few reasons why I liked my N75. I could store text messages to the memory card, so I could have thousands of texts on my phone at one time.
