I just saw the thread about the engineering menu, and was able to test the GPS. I have no data plan, but I was wondering if there are mobile phone GPS apps that work off of saved data rather than downloading from google or whatever? I have 2gb of sd memory so it seems like it would be enough space for at least a statewide datatbase/overlays.

If a gps app that doesn't use the internet exists, where can I find it?

So I've found GPS programs on getjar that don't need the internet, and I bought an AmbiCom bluetooth GPS receiver, but I still cant get it to work.

I don't know off-hand whether the Java security policy allows applications to use Bluetooth either...

Well I don't know if thats the problem. In the Xenon's BT settings I connected the GPS receiver w/ no problems and the GPS programs detected the receiver. The problem is I don't think the GPS receiver supports pairing with the xenon or something, because according to the light I get from the receiver its still waiting to be paired.

Okay, I was mistaken.  Signed applications can access Bluetooth.  Unsigned applications cannot access anything beyond web.

Navfun pro, and mgmaps both work with my freedom keychain bluetooth gps receiver.
I'm still waiting for my bluetooth dashboard "puck" to arrive from china.

Where do you get free GPS s/w that will work with a Bluetooth receiver? Being the cheap bugger I am...LOL....I haven't bought a Bluetooth GPS yet until I figure out if I can get free s/w to load on my phone.

How do you load s/w on the phone? Can I download it from somewhere with my PC and then move it to the Xenon via USB or Bluetooth?

Oh yeah...I don't want to have to use internet to use GPS.
