i browsed this forum and just saw a website that will convert songs to 30 second clips to make ringtones out of. so i have an mp3 that i uploaded to my LG Xenon. its about 15 seconds long. it plays perfectly but i dont see the option to make it my ringtone, the 'use as' option isnt there. help!

could there be a limit, like clips too short cant be set as ringtone? this is 20 secs or so.

Must be...
under 300 KB
phone-compatible format (MP3)
[for non-AT&T] sent over the air (OTA)

these files are 157 and 211 KBs, in mp3 form. at first i uploaded them but yesterday after your link i downloaded it from the website it redirects the phone to, so i assume its considered OTA? still not working.

i just saw in windows explorer that the mp3s i saved are in the F:\Sounds directory but the sounds that are eligible ringtones arent here. in fact i dont see them anywhere in win explorer. this is prolly indicative of the problem. how would i save these files with the actual tones?

The built-in ringtones are stored elsewhere in the phone ROM.

For using/accessing media, the phone doesn't care what folder the file is in.  However, incoming files are "categorized" into the folder the phone thinks the file is.

For example, if you transfer a video file in, it'll go into \Videos, but if you put another video file in \Foobar, and go to the video player, both files will show up.

i found something really interesting.

when i bluetoothed stuff (mp3s i think but not sure) from my old phone to my new one it asked me if i want to set it as my ringtone. yayyy. if i didnt say yes, i couldnt do so later, i only get one chance to do so, immediately after the transfer. but its something.

with that said im now having some bluetooth issue b/w the phones, they're not finding each other anymore. but SOME progress has been made!

is there any other advice on how i can make songs my ringtones more easily?

For Rogers/Fido Xenons, you must transfer over-the-air, and it only gives you the use as ringtone option when it first arrives (you can't pick it as a ringtone later), as you have found.
