After having problems with the Yellowpages program and getting a new phone I was told by Tech support that the xenon is not compatible with the Yellowpages program. I am able to get street by street directions but the map often shows a blank yellow screen and the zoom, options, and back buttons disappear. Mine and my wifes phones both do it, my new replacement phone does it and two phones on the display wall at the ATT store also do it. Sometimes it is when zooming, other times it happens when scrolling. I called tech support after the warranty replacement phone did it right out of the box and she said she looked into it and discovered that the program is not compatible. Give it a try, does yours do it also?

I've been using the Yellowpages app for almost 2 weeks now, since I bought the Xenon, and I haven't had a single problem with it.  Not that this is helpful, but why would an incompatible app be included with the phone?

That is a good question. I have seen at least 5 phones that all do the same thing. Try using the "Map current location" or just type in a town. Then zoom all the way in and or drag your finger and scroll the map. It usually does not take long before the screen turns yellow. I thought the tech rep was confused with some kind of program that could be downloaded on to the phone. Once I found the same thing on the display phones I began to think she was right.

That is very interesting. It might be happening because of a lag in the network, or because there is no information on that area. Have you tried this with other areas of the world?

Other than that I can't say I have ever had any issue with the app on my phone.

Oh my. Well it seems strange that they would include a program without fully testing it. hmmmmmmm....

This sounds like a question for LG support?

I believe it was ATT Tech Support that I talked to. She researched it for several hours and called me back to tell me the the phone was not on the list of compatible phones or was on the list of incompatible phones, I don't remember which. I thought she was confused with some kind of add on yellowpages that might be different than the one included with the phone.

I now have another replacement phone. The GPS is working on this phone, but the screen turns yellow like all the rest. Just to be clear, the phone shows a black and white screen  with the words loading on it. That goes away after the map loads in a few seconds. The yellow screen is different. When your phone shows the yellow screen does your zoom, back and options buttons disappear while the yellow screen is showing?

There is definitely a difference between the pre-loaded Yellow Pages app and one you load.

The pre-loaded one is signed by AT&T so it has appropriate Java security permission to use the necessary resources.  Apps that you load on your own do not get the same permissions, unless they're signed by AT&T, as most are signed by third-parties.

Yes I would assume something like that. I can't be sure what she was looking at so I don't know for sure. I do know that it doesn't work right on 6 or 7 phones I have seen personally.

I haven't had the problem yet, but if it's happening to one person it's bound to happen to everyone eventually.

I'm really looking forward to more apps that take advantage of the A-GPS on the Xenon.  I'm hopeful that Google Maps 3.0 will come out for Java sooner rather than later, and I'll eventually be able to geotag my images.  The Xenon is pretty awesome overall for feature vs price, but it's pretty limited out of the box by the software.
