with AT&T, i pay for $20 monthly for unlimited texting(sms & mms), but dont opt for an additional $20 for internet access.

However, if instead i only paid $20 for internet access (and not an additional $20 for unlimited texting) is there a way to text message via the Xenon's internet? (i know you can send texts via g-mail, for example)
Wondering if anyone else does this?

if i remember, the $20 for AT&T internet access is unlimited... so is there any disadvantage to always having the LG Xenon connected to the internet? (so as to be able to get an unexpected text via the web)?
Also, i know g-mail lets you send free texts, but i've never seen the Xenon's browser before. is the gmail text sending feature accessable? easy to get to on the Xenon?

AT & T data unlimited is $15 but if you have Family messaging unlimited then Family Data unlimited is $10 per phone . I have 3 phones which I was paying $45 for data and $ 10 for 200 messages on 2 phones which costed a total of $55 . So for $5 more , I could have unlimited data and messaging on all 3 lines verses only 200 messages on 2 lines . I generally don't text a lot but my wife and kids do at times .

To send an SMS to an AT&T customer, email 10-digit_number@txt.att.net

For example, if your phone number is 123-555-1234 then you send an email to 1235551234@txt.att.net

SMS and MMS sent to your phone will count as Received SMS or MMS so it's messaging, regardless of where it was sent from.

If you receive it via sms it will be charge as sms ,but if you receive it via e-mail then there is no charge if you have unlimited data .

Just to clarify...

If you send SMS from device A to your phone number...
Device A sends a SMS, and gets charged for sent SMS.
Your phone receives an SMS and gets charged for received SMS.

If you send email from device A to your phone's SMS email gateway address (Example for AT&T your_phone_number@txt.att.net)
Device A sends an email and gets billed for sent data.
Your phone receives an SMS and gets charged for received SMS.

If you send email from device A to your email account (Example: nobody@nowhere.com)
Device A sends an email and gets billed for sent data.
Your phone doesn't receive anything immediately.  When you check your email on your phone, and get charged for data usage.
